favorite and least favorite usernames

Category: Let's talk

Post 1 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2012 14:17:11

Hi all

i searched for this topic because I was thinking I had seen it before, but even though I found a topic for favorite names I did not see one for least faves, and the one for faves is locked because it is so old. BUT lots of new people have joined, and lots of others have changed user names, so I thought it would be fun to see what people's favorite and least favorite user names are again.

I'll start out with my least favorite. I am not trying to insult the people who chose these names because I don't know anything about them. I just don't like the names. I would encourage others to also keep any personal feelings about the people involved out of their comments when listing least favorite names.

FOR now, I can only think of two names I hate. I find corpse-grinder and vaginal discomfort disgusting. I also get annoyed by anyone who has a very long name with several dashes or underlines between words or a long list of numbers following their name. Those types of names wouldn't bother me visually, but as a screen reader user, I find them annoying.

I'll have to list some favorite names later.

SO what are your faves and least faves?

Post 2 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2012 14:27:33

Two of my faves are Devilish Anthony and SilverLightning. I'll have to list more when I see a name I like logged in because I tend to forget about names I like or dislike unless I actually see them on the log in list.

Post 3 by forereel (Just posting.) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2012 14:27:44

Well my least is that Forereel. I mean what does Forereel mean anyway? It sounds like for real, and people are always spelling it like that that use screen readers, and well I just hate it.
Now lets see. Favorites. Ah, yes LibraLady
. Now that name has class, and it probably should have had a space between the libra and the lady, but well I like it.
Last, yes these really long names that are all written together make me have to work to figure it out using a screen reader, so yes I don't like them much eather.
Forereel!

Post 4 by Sword of Sapphire (Whether you agree with my opinion or not, you're still gonna read it!) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2012 14:54:52

Faves: failed design, silver lightning, poetry in motion, dilapidated liberation, and undead libertine. And every user name I've ever had is totally bad ass! lol
My least faves of course are any with a squillion numbers or all the words jumbled together. I dislike the same names as Becky.
I'll post again if I can think of more.

Post 5 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2012 19:37:10

Alluring Seductress is another name I don't care for.

Polka dots and Moonbeams, Starfly, and Ocean Dream are three more names I like. Another name I like is Glenja. I particularly like that he explains in his profile why he came up with that name.

Post 6 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2012 19:43:32

My least favorite names are those that have multiple words, but which the person does not bother to separate. Billybadass leaps to mind, but there are others.
I have favorites too, but I can't think of them right now.
I am touched that someone likes my user name though.

Post 7 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2012 20:20:04

I don't like vaginal discomfort, alluring seductress, or corpse grinder.
also, anything with the words "angel", "princess", "blind", or "so and so's girl/guy", are out for me.

Post 8 by Imprecator (The Zone's Spelling Nazi) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2012 23:04:21

Nothin' like a cup of freshly ground corpses early in the morning.
Anyway, I'm gonna go with Hell's Child as my favorite.

Post 9 by season (the invisible soul) on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2012 23:48:25

any user name that is more than 12 letter or have multiple words without spaces just plain lame.

Post 10 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 8:28:37

Hey, my name fits both of those criteria. My heart is in pieces. How can you guys be so mean, some people have feelings. You shouldn't go around insulting people's user names. Some of us work really really hard, and we put a lot of effort in, and I'm blind, so I shouldn't have my user name made fun of by meanies like you guys and stuff. You all need to just get along and respect other people's user names. Cuz some people don't like meanies.

I've always wanted to do that.

Post 11 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 10:17:23

Some other favorites for me are WillieTheWoof, Buttercup, and, even though I haven't seen this person logged on in years, Kwork. As faras names with more than one word and no spaces, like mine, as long as the person capitalizes the first letter of each word, JAWS usually pronounces them as if the words were seperated, and that's OK with me. But when JAWS doesn't make any sense of the name, and I have to look at it letter by letter, then I find those kinds of names irritating.

Post 12 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 13:23:09

my worst types of names are names that just use the person's name, or something else about that person- like the people that feel the need to write there real name, then say where they are from. i always never really liked things like american james, scottish_alan, there's 1 from wales, can't think of that but it's the same thing. i also don't like names like irishgirl 1215, scottish lassy, dj.welshchik, because again... i think they are really boring.

oh... and names that have the same letter, for both parts of their name.

little lion, happy heart, that kind of thing.

oh yeah.... names with animals, angels, princesses, and i really don't like the username the wed wonderful wabit, because i just think there's really no point to it

okay now for usernames i like:

undead libertine

musical ambition

cowboy1

pork insider

the rated- r superstar

the devel's mistress

the_blind_guardian

short stuff

big dog daddy

anibal lector

blue cupcake

dj outrage

frozen teardrop

dead_silence

sugarbaby

broken_girl

beautiful beloved

ramblin fever

the antichrist

hell's child

flopp eared monster

the chosen one

geek woman

undead mistress

stone cold

rennigade rocker

kind and creative lady

the black goddess

redstar

fire and rain

will post more later- those are the ones that come to mind right now

Post 13 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 13:37:48

You know, you listed one in your likes that broke one of the rules you laid down in your not likes. Just wanted to point that out, it was kinda confusing.

Post 14 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 14:16:11

I forgot about blue cupcake. I like that too. Also like SugarBaby.

Post 15 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 14:48:36

which one is that, cody?

another one i like:

lost on the human highway

Post 16 by Sword of Sapphire (Whether you agree with my opinion or not, you're still gonna read it!) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 15:03:53

Actually, a few of the names you like broke at least one of the rules you laid for dislikes:
You said you dislike names containing alliteration, which we're going to fight about because I adore alliteration as everyone can tell from my present and past user names.
Short stuff, beautiful beloved, and renegade rocker.
So zing!

Anyway, more names I like:
persevere warrior, sage rose, glinja, fire and rain, laced-unlaced, and seamaiden.

Post 17 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 16:37:18

oh... and names that have the same letter, for both parts of their name. little lion, happy heart, that kind of thing.

beautiful beloved

The first one is from your dislikes, the second from your likes. Oh, and having a phrase where two or more words start with the same letter is called aliteration, just in case you were curious.

Post 18 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 20:48:02

I don't like any username that contains one or more of the following words:
blind, prince, princess, angel, queen, aluring, girl, and guy. Sexy, love and baby are three words that, if used very creatively, work really well in a username., but not always.

I'm also not a huge fan of usernames that have so many numbers that I can't even say or write it correctly without looking at it, even if it's the same number. Weathermaster999999999, or however many 9's are in his username, is a perfect example, though I haven't seen that name in awhile.

OK, now that we have the negatives out of the way...

I absolutely adore poetic, metaphoric, and, well, creatively unique usernames. And by creative, I don't mean something that looks like it came out of one of those random password generators, but, well, here are a few examples: some of these people are banned, but they're still worth mentioning.

americanadian1, though I'm not sure what the 1 is for.
Seamaden
Poetry emotion
silver lightning
Hell's child

I know there are more, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Post 19 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 22:03:58

As far as names I don't like, the only ones I can think of are people who use their actual name as their username. That annoys me because it's not creative. Some of these others like Vaginal Discomfort that people have mentioned, I wouldn't be in a hurry to talk to a person with a username like that, but I don't hate the names, either. At least they're different. As for names I really like, here are some of them:
Ocean Dream
Leo Guardian
Sister Dawn
Purring Turtle (though I haven't seen that person in awhile)
DJ Outrage
Melodica
I'll probably think of more later.

Post 20 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012 23:52:03

I think my favorites are goldenbear2117 and ladybug1993.

Post 21 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 27-Apr-2012 1:01:48

Oh, I forgot, I like people who have jewels in their user name. Sword of sapphire is the most prevalent, but there are others.

Post 22 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Friday, 27-Apr-2012 5:19:36

at post 16, thanks for mentioning me!. :)

Post 23 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 27-Apr-2012 12:55:27

Thanks, Fire and Rain, for mentioning mine. I would have mentioned yours too, even if you hadn't brought mine up. I've always liked it. And I'm amused, because Purring Turtle happens to be my best friend, though you're right, she's not logged on here in a very long time.

Other user names I like are Ocean Dream, SilverLightning, Seamaiden, Cherry Bomb, SugarBaby. I know there are others, but I can't think of them now.

I'm with Ocean: there are certain words that I can't stand in user names. Blind, prince, princess, sexy, angel, baby, and so on. We have way too many of that kind of user name. Enough already.

I do find it amusing that a male user has named himself Juggling Jugs of Joy, or that someone, I forget who, made a satire by calling himself CammyPrincessAngelBaby or something like that for awhile.

Post 24 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Friday, 27-Apr-2012 23:46:55

I just saw a name on the birthday page that made me laugh, so I'm adding pantie snatcher to my list of favorites.

Post 25 by hi5 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 28-Apr-2012 1:23:43

Bomb, Shark, Rat, pug, Tuckahoe, TunderButt, paparazzi, ShuInterpreter, GodzillaOnToast, YourRoyalBlindness,

Post 26 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 28-Apr-2012 11:56:33

Hahaha. The best part about TunderButt was that it was a type-o. I think it turned out even more funnny than the intended user name.

Post 27 by hi5 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 28-Apr-2012 16:01:30

BuckFutter, NuckingFutjob, screaming_turttle, AsianSensation.

Post 28 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Saturday, 28-Apr-2012 17:58:12

I'm touched that several people listed my name as one of their favorites. I wasn't expecting that. ScreamingTurtle was actually one of my former usernames as well.
I thought of a couple other stupid names. Windows Vista Home Basic was by far the dumbest name I've ever seen around here. He got himself banned pretty quickly if I remember right. Also that guy mygodchosenbrideandI4lifefinally or however the hell he spelled it. I knew that guy was bad news just from his username lol.

Post 29 by turricane (happiness and change are choices ) on Saturday, 28-Apr-2012 21:39:26

oh libra lady i love this topic.
names i dislike would include but are not limmited too vaginal discomfort, domestic goddess, black devil, the devil's mistress, anything with blind in it, anything that puts a person down, the wonderful wed wabbit, and i'm sure there are more but those are the ones that spring immediately to mind.

for the ones i like, leo guardian, godzilla on toast, ocean dream, modern gibsongirl, and fire and rain.

Post 30 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Saturday, 28-Apr-2012 21:42:44

How could I have forgotten to mention Godzilla on Toast. I've always loved that name.

Post 31 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Saturday, 28-Apr-2012 21:49:44

I liked both Purring and Screaming Turtle, though the ancient elements reference of Fire and Rain is cool.
Silver Lightning always makes me think of the Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King, the gunsmith who sold the silver bullet that killed the werewolf.
I hadn't really given thought to disliking of usernames but would agree with most people on here about the blind thing, or angel or princess. This board topic leaves one thinnking, and in kind of new ways. Honestly I haven't seen some of the user names talked about on here but find them creative. We need a few more dragons, maybe.

Post 32 by season (the invisible soul) on Saturday, 28-Apr-2012 22:20:16

hahaha SilverLightning, your name is not suits in the caractor. cause your name have a meaning on it. Also, SilverLightning means something, not something that is long, wordless, meaningless etc

Post 33 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Sunday, 29-Apr-2012 11:21:36

I'm flattered that so many people have mentioned my username as favorites. I chose this username initially because I used to have a kind of body mist that was actually called Ocean Dream. The body mist wasn't exactly one of my favorites, but I associated it with some very nostalgic memories. Since I like the beach quite a lot anyway, I figured it was an appropriate username. people seem to like it more than my previous username: Canadian Idol. it's interesting to look at some of my favorite usernames to try to think of why the person chose it. This is true for my least favorite usernames as well, to a lesser extent.

Post 34 by turricane (happiness and change are choices ) on Sunday, 29-Apr-2012 14:41:59

i'm glad you changed your name from canadian idol to ocean dream. much more personal and less egotistical. also prettier. i love the turtles. forgot to mention ol' screaming and purring last night.

Post 35 by hi5 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 29-Apr-2012 16:32:22

pissed off tilly, manic, HotPerro. By the way were you talking about the guy whose name is mygodsentbrideandiforeverfinally or some shit like that? Lol.

Post 36 by Sword of Sapphire (Whether you agree with my opinion or not, you're still gonna read it!) on Monday, 30-Apr-2012 21:05:53

More names I like: mastermind, azure, and agent r08.

Post 37 by BuckeyeFan92 (Generic Zoner) on Tuesday, 01-May-2012 2:46:24

Names I like:
Sword of Sapphire, Majestic Sapphire, Agent R08, Ocean dream, Punk Rock princess, Naked Driver, Corpse-Grinder, Devilish Anthony. Not really any I'm really going to say I don't like, though some annoy me.

Post 38 by Dirty Little Oar (I'd rather be rowing.) on Tuesday, 01-May-2012 15:56:43

I can't say I really dislike any user name. But the ones I find annoying are pretty much any name using the words angel, princess / prince, love, sexy, blind, God / Goddess or fan. Names that are characters from books bug me too because when I read a book, I feel like I'm getting to know the character. Someone on the net parading around with a beloved character's name just feels like literary identity theft and it always kind of creeps me out. I probably take my reading too seriously, but there you go. And I agree that user names that are just people's names or anything with a bunch of numbers is boring.

Names that I have enjoyed over the years are Bouncing Bucket of Doom, Juggling Jugs of Joy, Godzilla on Toast and Screaming Turtle.

Post 39 by Smiling Sunshine (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 02-May-2012 9:58:21

Hey, what's wrong with Domestic Goddess? lol Oh yeah, guess it's that hole Goddess thing. Oh well, whatever.

I can't stand the name Vaginal discomfort.

I love the poetic names. Juggling Jugs of joy always cracks me up too.

Post 40 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Thursday, 03-May-2012 9:41:22

I just saw another one I have liked for a long time but forgot about: WillieTheWoof. I have no idea what it means, but it makes me smile every time I see this user name.

Post 41 by turricane (happiness and change are choices ) on Thursday, 03-May-2012 16:05:51

i don't like domestic goddess because it sounds like you think your are the ultimate of home making perfection.

Post 42 by Dirty Little Oar (I'd rather be rowing.) on Friday, 04-May-2012 8:37:06

Yeah, I agree. My thing with God / Goddess names is that they just come off as arrogant and a little obnoxious. It's just a personal preference for me. And WillieTheWoof always makes me laugh too. I forgot about that one. Good Call.

Post 43 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Friday, 04-May-2012 8:50:07

I think it was actually Roseanne Barr who originally coined the term Domestic Goddess.

Post 44 by season (the invisible soul) on Friday, 04-May-2012 9:43:56

i also like the following user name from the pass
moonbeam, matrix, cill bot...

i like user names that explain that person caractor and user name that have a personality.

Post 45 by Godzilla-On-Toast (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 04-May-2012 16:21:48

Y'know, I never really thought about the topic. I just don't let lots of things bother me much I suppose, and a person's user name is their choice in the end. I suppose I can agree that names that contain hot or sexy or angel or prince or princess and all that sort of thing, meh, I don't think so.
And thanks to those who liked my username. I dunno, one evening I just came up with that particular combo of words, I was just being all random about myself and thought I'd use it here and other places. Another username I've invented for myself is CrummyVision, which yeah, is encroaching on the blind thing, but I still like it. You could also think of it as a parody of some of those new-fangled photographic processes they used in movies like Cinemascope. So yeah, it's the Attack of the Rabid Librarians, fillmed in beautiful CrummyVision! LOL!

Post 46 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Friday, 04-May-2012 20:16:33

It seems to me all those names with angel, princess, baby and whatnot are cliches.

Post 47 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Friday, 04-May-2012 23:26:05

I have to admit I don't talk to many people on here, so I shouldn't make judgments based on usernames, but when I see usernames with princess, prince, angel, sexy, alluring, star, queen, etc. in them, I just think these people think they are very special and probably aren't all they think they are. People like to build themselves up, and who knows what you really look like on the internet, so you can tell people you are alluring, sexy, goddess like, etc. and no one will know the difference.

Post 48 by hi5 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 05-May-2012 1:08:02

Bug, up, TheRomanBattleMask, SmilieSoggyBaby, Squidwardqtentacles.

Post 49 by Sword of Sapphire (Whether you agree with my opinion or not, you're still gonna read it!) on Sunday, 06-May-2012 0:57:55

@LibraLady, I only think that about people who have sexy, beautiful, or pretty in their user name. I don't think that they think they are special, but that they wish they were beautiful. I associate it with low self esteem. Though, as someone who once had the user name Pernicious Princess, I was an arrogant little bitch at the time, but I don't make that judgment of others with such names. I appreciate some of them if they have assonance, alliteration, or a nice combination of words.

Post 50 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 06-May-2012 3:23:25

Becky, if we want to talk about user name's that are just weird, like Scott's type-O of TunderButt, there's always when you changed yours to Lesbian Nipple Butter. Lmao!

Post 51 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Sunday, 06-May-2012 7:22:29

LOL. I chose my username because it was nice and simple.

Post 52 by Smiling Sunshine (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Sunday, 06-May-2012 10:19:11

The bummer of it is that mine is meant to be sarcastic which doesn't translate on line. I had a few others in mind but they mostly dealt with political stuff and since I'm in the minority, I prefered not to start that particular shit storm. lol

Post 53 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Sunday, 06-May-2012 11:18:36

Alicia, the lesbian nipple butter name was on a dare and because several people gave me points to do it. It was fun, but I changed it back as soon as the 30 days were up. I sure wish we could get rid of the list of past user names from our profiles because I get real tired of explaining that one.

Post 54 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Sunday, 06-May-2012 17:05:07

LOL. That's at least partly why I've never changed mine.

Post 55 by Godzilla-On-Toast (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 06-May-2012 18:20:23

So, nobody has any plans of calling themselves Pookie-Bear-Love-Sponge in the near future? LOL!

Post 56 by softy5310 (Fuzzy's best angel) on Monday, 07-May-2012 1:10:26

I don't like Vaginal Discomfort, or Corpse Grinder. I do however like Ocean Dream, Godzilla on Toast, Sort of Sapphire, Sister Dawn, and i saw a little Mermaid name on here a while back that I thought was pretty cool. I don't mind the whole blind thing. Or the prince/princess/love username. That's not my style, but if people feel the need to advertize that they're blind, that they're with so and so in their username, they can knock themselves out, in my opinion. I also like my username, hence why I chose it, and there's a story behind mine.
Take care,
Dawnielle

Post 57 by BuckeyeFan92 (Generic Zoner) on Wednesday, 09-May-2012 4:40:29

Even though I think my username explains me pretty well, I have thought about changing it, but don't have the creative sense of humor to come up with something memorable lol.

Post 58 by DRUM GODDESS (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Friday, 11-May-2012 18:20:18

Post 59 by Freedomlocks (Veteran Zoner) on Saturday, 12-May-2012 1:59:54

i love the name vaginal discomfort i lmao every time i see it. i was shocked when i saw how many people don't dig it. i got a few on here i don't like but cant think of them right now. the names that i like are, Tuckahoe, oceandream, BuckFutter, and NuckingFutjob. but the best one is Juggling Jugs of Joy lol. that guy is a genius. btw i think Pookie-Bear-Love-Sponge is a dope name

Post 60 by snowflower (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 12-May-2012 21:11:34
